Day 29-30

Reunion - my birthday and our 10th wedding anniversary

semi-overcast 27 °C

Yesterday was my birthday and our 10th wedding anniversary. We decided to treat ourselves and take a helicopter tour of the island. Pick-up was scheduled for 7:20, but just as we were about to leave the room the company rang to cancel as it was too cloudy. We rescheduled for the following day, this time with a 6:20 pick-up.

We went back to bed for a bit and then went for breakfast. The hotel serves sparkling wine at breakfast, so we started the day with a few bubbles and then had a leisurely day on the beach. Late afternoon we took a drive into Saint-Gille to look around and find a shot glass to add to our collection.

We celebrated in the evening with a bottle of champagne courtesy of the duty free in Mauritius.

Today we got ready for the 6:20 pick-up and made it all the way to the helipad before we were told it was too cloudy to fly. As Rob was suffering a little from too much beer and champagne we went back to bed for a bit and had another late breakfast.

This afternoon we went snorkelling. The water is nice and clear and there are quite a few fish but not as plentiful or colourful as in the Maldives. There were hundreds of sea cucumbers which look like giant slugs.
